Welcome to Lakewood School
February 1, 2012
Dear Families and Community Members,
Lakewood School is proud to announce
that we are in full support of State Superintendent Tony
Evers’ proclamation dedicating February as the Career and
Technical Education month. His proclamation can be found at:
http://dpi.wi.gov/cte/pdf/proclamation.pdf
In support of this movement, we have
continued to make significant strides in improving our
technology throughout the district. Last year, we upgraded
our infrastructure adding new servers, a phone system,
interactive whiteboards in every classroom, a new website,
conversion to Gmail, and a school wide security program that
includes keyless entry, a video monitoring system, alarms,
and motion sensors.
We have continued to forge ahead with
tremendous efforts put forth from parents, staff,
administration, and the Board of Education. In the early
fall, we added two mobile computer labs, also known as
C.O.W.S (Computers on Wheels). This enabled us to free up a
number of desktop computers so that we now have four fully
functional computer labs within our building. The C.O.W.S
have been greatly successful and we are working to add two
additional labs before the end of this school year.
Additionally, we have installed a state of
the art wireless system throughout the school so that we may
fully utilize the technologies available. As we progress
into the 21st century, it is essential that we
provide our students with a comprehensive education that
includes technology. As Dr. Ever’s states in his
proclamation, “profound economic and technological changes
in our society are rapidly reflected in the structure and
nature of work, thereby placing new and additional
responsibilities on our educational system.
While it is our mission to see that ALL
students achieve at a high level, it is our vision that
Lakewood strives to become a “Lighthouse” school. With the
addition of these cutting edge technologies, Lakewood is
proud to lead the way and become a school of choice for many
families throughout the area.
It is our sincere hope that we continue to
meet and exceed the expectations of our students, families,
and community members. As we embrace the 21st
century, we encourage you to visit our school and see the
many wonderful things that are
happening at Lakewood. If you would like more information
the great programs and services offered at Lakewood School,
please feel free to contact me at any time.
Sincerely,
